The Rage Inside
The True Anarchists
Many bands, whether punk, rock, or even rap have used anarchy symbols and concepts to represent their bands. Whether it's supposed to stand for violence, or even satanism, the truth is: those bands don't even know what true anarchy is. The only band that portrays the real 'chaotic' and truly anarachic theme correctly is Rage Against the Machine. Anarchy: (noun) the absence of government or control. Anarchist: (noun) a person who believes that government and laws are undesireable and should be abolished.
The Beginning of an Empire
Rage Against the Machine, probably the best and most controversial band of all time, consists of the impacting vocals of Zach De La Rocha, the deep bass of Tim Commeford, the explosive guitar rythums of Tom Morello, and the hard hitting percussion of Brad Wilk.
Zach De La Rocha was born in Long Beach, California in 1970 and is the heart and soul of Rage. As he grew up, Zach listened to a lot of hip-hop and began breakdancing. When his family moved to Irvine, Zach's interest in music heightened.
Tom Morello, who is probably the most political one of the band, grew up a very controversial household. Tom's mom was a member of Parents of Rock and Rap, an anti-censorship organization. His dad is a guerrilla (Mau-Mau) who participated in the freeing of Kenya from British rule.
Tom and Zach soon met up and formed the band Inside Out, which didn't go far.
Tim Commeford, the bassist, is probably one of the less political members of the the band, but very awesome, none the less. Tim grew up liking Jazz, but he prefers to play the upright bass guitar, rather than the jazz version when playing with Rage.
Brad Wilk is the most un-political member of the group, he doesn't have much to say in the band, he just loves to the play. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Brad played in various small bands until meeting up with Zach, Tom, and Tim in California.
